Alba studied Biochemistry and Biomedicine and did her PhD in Biotechnology at University of Valencia, Spain. She currently works at the Department of Haematology, University of Cambridge. Her research is in human genomics and focused on the genetic basis and diagnosis of rare human inherited diseases. She is currently using next-generation sequencing technologies to advance knowledge of the structure and dynamics of the human genome and to discern the implications that different types of variations may have in the development of disease.
